What is TTouch?

The Tellington TTouch is a specialised approach to the care and training of your animal companions.

Developed by internationally recognized animal expert, Linda Tellington-Jones, TTouch is based on co-operation and respect.  You can improve performance and health as well as common behavioural and physical problems. It also helps establish a deeper rapport between humans and animals through increased understanding and more effective communication.

Using a combination of specific touches, lifts, and movement exercises, TTouch will help you to release tension and increase body awareness allowing your animal to be handled without provoking typical fear responses. Your animal can then more easily learn new and more appropriate behaviours. By using the TTouch and a variety of other tools, like the Confidence Course, you can assist your animal in experiencing self-confidence in previously frightening situations. Even the most difficult problems are often eliminated

Tail: a gentle stretch and release can act like traction for the spine. Great for older dogs as well as fearful dogs. Hindquarters: can you touch this area of your dogs body? It often holds anxiety or fear. Most dogs who are fearful of loud noises, thunder storms or fireworks can benefit from work on the buttocks and tail. Spine: Often the place of physical difficulties such as arthritis. Legs: animals need to be balanced physically. This means on all four legs! When dogs pull too much, they tend to put all of their weight on the front legs. By doing TTouches on the legs you can help keep them relaxed and supple. Ears: ears hold many pressure points for the immune system. Working them can keep your pet from going into shock from an accident or fight. Mouth: the mouth connects with the limbic system of the brain. This is what controls your animal's emotions. Mouth work is great for dogs that bite, chew, bark too much or show signs of fearful agression. Feet: Many dogs don't like their feet being touched. This can be a problem for nail trimming as well as for dogs who have trouble gripping on slippery surfaces. Gentle TTouch can help with both of these problems.

Although the picture above is of a dog this work is applicable to all animals. This picture is reproduced with the kind permission of Eugine Chopin
